ABA services are expensive regardless where you are in the world. Most programs run over $100,000 annually if a full program is necessary. All agencies have a choice when choosing to offer this service. They can either choose to make the services the least expensive and in turn sacrifice some of the quality, or they can focus on quality and sacrifice by having to charge more but maintain the highest quality. Quality of an ABA program isn’t just the direct therapist but the heightened supervision, oversight, and curriculum. We find that our direct therapists learn at a faster rate due to the supervision aspect of our center. Though home based therapy is more convenient for parents, and offers opportunities for generalization, home based therapy doesn’t offer the same level of supervision and support for the therapists and the program. Supervisors who are on site and monitoring the child’s treatment on a daily basis are able to better maintain and direct the program. At Pacific Autism Center we are tuition based. All costs are similar to fees the department of education currently pays for these services and span from several thousand to over ten thousand a month. Packages are organized by the number of direct service hours a child receives per week. This is completely based on what the child needs. Parents are given different options and are free to chose one of the appropriate options. At Pacific Autism Center we require that children make progress so we would not accept a child below the recommended range of hours, and would encourage the parent to save until full funding could be secured. In addition to the direct 1:1 service, children at Pacific Autism Center receive full management and supervision of their programs which is no small feat. It entails the training and maintaining of qualified therapists, supervision of staff and of the program, daily program updates, reports, individual therapy rooms, inclusion peer group accessibility, video monitoring, creation of the materials for programs, managing the log book and the program materials, scheduling of staff and all activities, speech and OT therapy, play areas, general reinforcements, parent training, and parent meetings. Our center runs year round with minimal breaks. We don’t believe in giving the children opportunities to regress. Therefore there are 12 days that are taken per year for holidays plus a short break during Christmas. Our PackagesFull Day Package – 35 Direct hours per week, 50 total weekly hours Half Day Package – 15 Direct hours per week, 25 total weekly hours The Direct Hours in both of the above packages include center based intensive ABA programs utilizing the key components of Verbal Behavior in a well engineered environment to maximize the success and motivation of each student. All services are supervised by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), data is collected and student progress is monitored daily. Each program is highly individualized and based on the specific student’s needs. Materials for the child’s program are included as well as parent training. Small teams are developed and designed to increase the learning opportunities for the students. Our system offers the child increased learning opportunities, which in turn helps them to learn faster and to generalize and maintain the skills they are learning in a more effective manner. The Indirect Hours in the above packages include supervision by BCBA and Case Supervisor, Parent Meetings, Reports and Assessments, preparation time for the team, team meetings, material collection and creation, communications with parents and other individuals, travel time, and speech where available and appropriate.
