Roads to Learning Peer Group

Roads to Learning is a peer group that is run like a regular preschool with typical functioning peers. This group goes from 9:00-11:30. Parents come in with their children to give them an opportunity to learn all the preschool academics so their children are better prepared for Kindergarten. Each child has a baseline and has benchmarks that they work towards on their “Road to Learning.”

Our inclusion peer group is designed to give autistic children the opportunity to participate and be included in an educational setting along with typically developing peers. There are 10 openings for ASD students. ASD students admitted to PAC will begin intensive programming on site and in home to increase language, academics, self help, and play skills. During non-inclusion times, the student will receive 1:1 ABA treatment in a private classroom. These rooms will be supervised in person or via camera located in each room.

Carefully planned and highly supervised Behavior Intervention Plans will be implemented to prepare the student to enter the preschool day. All of PAC preschoolers will receive an inclusion schedule. As the student becomes successful with their program, and behavioral interventions are effective, then the student will be transitioned into the preschool in progressive amounts in time with 1:1 support. When the student is successful in the inclusion setting, the 1:1 support can also be faded to provide the least restrictive learning environment. Our goal is to assist all preschoolers in developing the skills needed to participate fully in a regular education kindergarten class.
